It’s hot and it should be snowing. When it’s this hot all I can think about is new sandals, swimsuits and sundress. But it’s Denver so another foot of snow is bound to drop… and better! I still have 2 months left of skiing and quite a few trips planned. So I am curving shopaholic cravings with some slip on sneakers, practical for warmer Colorado days and my upcoming beach trip in Apri. I love the new espadrille look like these, these tan ones from JSLIDES and I am kinda digging the red Sam Edelman’s. Any recommendations for the most comfortable pair?
In the dead of winter, you need a coat that will keep you warm. I have found the perfect one. I honestly never want to take it off. I find myself wearing it when it’s only 40 out because it keeps my body so warm. It’s like walking around in a sleeping bag. The Patagonia Down With It Parka is all your coat dreams come true. Warm and fitted it’s flattering and functional really what else can you ask for?
Sizing – I wear a small in all Patagonia Jackets. I am 5’8 and about 135. The small fits perfectly snug for me when fully zipped. Which I wanted so that the jacket had a more fitted look. The Medium was way too wide and the sleeves were too long. Typically when shopping for jackets people like to leave room for layers. I can fit a chunky sweater or even another jacket under here but it is snug. But snug is warm! The jacket is so warm you honestly won’t need lots of layers.
Denver may be a beer city… I mean Colorado is home to over 240 Breweries! But if your beer of choice is a Coors Light then you really don’t care about all the fancy beers. Lucky for me, there are some amazing spots to grab a cocktail, enjoy a view or take in a show. Here are some of my favorites…
Avanti – This giant food hall in LoHi has it all. A rotating selection of restaurants and 2 full bars. Plus one of the best patios in Denver with great views of Downtown. Try the Palomita Picante, Sunset Boulevard or South of Sunnyside Sangria.
Union Station Terminal Bar – Visitors often underestimate Denver but we can be rather cosmopolitan and nowhere is better than Union Station. Union Station’s Terminal Bar is in well the Terminal of Union Station. There is an actual “bar” but you can sit anywhere in the “Terminal” are which allows you to order food from basically anywhere in Union Station too.
Margaritas – My go-to drink is a Margarita or Paloma, lucky for me. Denver is chock full of tacos spots with amazing Margaritas and Palomas. The above pick is Englewood newcomer Cochino, I LOVE their frozen Palomas. Check out Comido, Adelitas, Cochino, Pinche Tacos and Margs.
Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox – This swanky restaurant, bar and venue is my favorite new spot in Denver. Impeccably decorated, the venue sits bellow the dining room, so you can eat while enjoying the show or head downstairs and hit the dance floor.
Sancho’s Broken Arrow – The Grateful Dead Bar of Denver. This is a great spot to grab a drink before a show or after at the Filmore. The large bar is decorated completely in Grateful Dead memorabilia and is always blaring great jams.
Ace – Drinks + Ping Pong
Williams & Graham – Denver’s Favorite Speakeasy
Nocturn Jazz Club – Drinks, eats and Jazz Shows
Historians – Casual Broadway spot with a great Balcony
Dons – Southerner’s dive bar – South Carolina Bar
Lincoln’s Roadhouse – Cajun dive bar with great live music
Candle Light Tavern – A night full of mistakes and cheap beer
Kentucky Inn – When you don’t wanna see the sun
El Chapultepec – Denver’s oldest Jazz and blues club -tiny but so fun
Syntax – Get weird with delicious cocktails
Izakaya – The most beautiful indoor-outdoor patio in town
Is Valentines Day & Presidents day sneaking up on anyone else? It’s all next week BTW! Luckily we still have 3 more months of ski season! This year has been amazing, having a new partner to ski with has totally up my game. Stay tuned for GoPro footage coming soon!
Frye Denver: Thursday night I went to the grand opening of #FRYEDenver. Kind of crazy that this boot loving town didn’t already have a Frye store but I’m so happy we do now! And now I am head over heals in love with these bedazzled black boots. The new store is in Cherry Creek around at Filmore and 2nd (right next to Starbucks)

Last Fall J.Crew launched a joint collection with New Balance. Preppy, stylish athletic wear from a reputable athletic brand… bravo! Well played J.Crew. Their newest collection of greens, blues, stars and stripes wins again. I loveeeeee these Star Leggings and top. I have been on the hunt for green leggings and these. This blue and white long sleeve pull-over looks like the perfect under layer for spring skiing.
