To Blue Mountain Belle! That’s right, the end of June marks the 5th anniversary of my blog. This little blog I started in my basement bedroom when I moved to Colorado has grown and evolved so much since then. And so has the wild world of blogging! I mean Instagram has been a game change. Influencer marketing – not a thing when I started. It’s exciting to see how the industry has changed and how my blog has found its place in it. While this blog can be a total bitch to keep up with, it has always been worth it. So many exciting opportunities have presented themselves to me lately that I can’t wait to share them all with you.

My favorite new part of blogging… My Friday emails! I seriously look forward to writing these each week. I highlight different #channingandthecheeseplates, my favorite new music, recent adventures and shopping obsessions. It’s like this blog in summary form delivered weekly – so sign up!

Red & Blue looks for the 4th of July

06/27/2016

The 4th of July is right around the corner! What I wouldn’t give to be in a body of water on the 4th. But really who am I kidding, I LOVE Colorado in the summer. We are headed to Breckenridge and Crested Butte this weekend to camp and disconnect for the weekend.

Lots of great sales have already started like Loft is 50% off and Backcountry is having a huge sale on everything you need for a weekend of camping. Anthropologie’s Red Tag sale is underway and Swell has an extra 40% off sale items with code JULY40.

Friday Vibes – WSP Weekend

06/24/2016

Telluride Bluegrass 2016 | Blue Mountain Belle

Telluride you are the most wonderful place in the world. We had a great time in Telluride and are already trying to book our house for next year. I have sooo many photos I need to edit from my birthday to Salida to Bonnaroo – promise they will be up on the blog sometime in July…

WSP WEEKEND!! Welp this weekend is Widespread Panic at Red Rocks. Years ago when WSP when on hiatus I cried, a lot. After moving to Colorado I wasn’t able to see them as much and my Phish love grew very strong. Im currently streaming the tour opener on periscope  & mixlr as I write this post (Kuroda’s new light rig – YES PLEASE) (this walls of the cave is fire)(I wish I could use emojis in this post). Anyway I have recently dug back in on some of my favorite panic jams and I can say I am super stoked to see the boys this weekend.

WSP and phish have completely different sounds. WSP is raw southern rock. Seriously JB and Jimmy wanna shred your eyeballs out and get real dark and funky. So here is my playlist to get me in the zone or this weekend.

Monthly Jewels with RocksBox Jewelry

06/22/2016

RocksBox Subscription Review - use code bluemountainbelxoxo for your first month free| Blue Mountain Belle

I have a confession… I rarely every buy jewelry. Almost all the jewelry I own, my mom got me for my birthday or Christmas (thanks Mom!). I have to really be moved by a piece for me to buy it. So when I was contacted by RockBox, a  monthly jewelry subscription, to test drive their service for 3 months I was stoked!

RocksBox Subscription Review - use code bluemountainbelxoxo for your first month free| Blue Mountain Belle

Here was my opportunity to try out some trendy styles that I would never buy on my own. For $19 a month you can receive 3 pieces of jewelry based around your personal style. Since I wanted to branch out I picked pieces for my wish list that are not my normal style and I loved everything I got!

RocksBox Subscription Review - use code bluemountainbelxoxo for your first month free| Blue Mountain Belle

By taking a style survey a Rocksbox stylist can help choose the best pieces of jewelry for your box. My favorite feature is that you are not limited to just 3 pieces a month. Let’s say you wear your 3 pieces for an event are ready to trade them out – just send them back in and 3 more pieces are delivered no matter what time of the month it is!

Use code bluemountainbelxoxo for one month free

And this isn’t just any jewelry… Rocksbox includes jewels from some of my favorite designers such as Gorjana, House of Hallow, Lauren Hope and Kendra Scott.

Really fall in love with a piece from your Rockbox? Keep it! Once your return the rest of your box you will be charged the membership discounted price for that piece.

So in review for $19 a month you can test drive as much jewelry as you want and keep the pieces you love for a discounted price… win-win scenario for me! Plus when you use my code bluemountainbelxoxo you get your first month free – so go on and try it!

Bonnarroo 2016 Day 1

06/10/2016

Bonnaroo 2016 | Blue Mountain Belle

Day one at Bonnaroo is a wrap! We had a great day at the Well Dunn tent. Followed by a fabulous night of dancing. I had a solo adventure last night as all of my friends are arriving today. Volfpeck was incredible – can’t wait to see them in July at Red Rocks. I caught a little of Borns before heading to Lizzo which was AMAZING. This girl/act/group is going to be the next big thing. I would love to be one of her backup dancers. Floozies through down an epic dance party and I wrapped up the night dancing on the Kalliope stage to some of my favorite jams.  On to day two!

My Festival and Concert Purse Essentials

06/07/2016

When it comes to packing your purse for a show I have a few essentials that no matter how small the bag they are coming with me. If there are no size restrictions on bag sizes I will bring my Patagonia Sling bag then I’ll throw in a few extras.

Bag

I prefer a sling bag to basically anything. The bag stays up close against your back, while only covering a small part of your back so its doesn’t get too hot. You can swing the bag around and easily access everything too.  I prefer sling bags to the backpacks because packs can get very heavy on  your shoulders and cause more sweaty back. Unfortunately, Sling bag selection is thin… if I would love to design sling bags I could make a killing!

Crossbody bags are great but only if you keep packing to a minimum. The heavier the bag the more annoying on your shoulders and hips when your dancing. When shopping for the good cross body show bag pay close attention to the construction. Zipper or fold over closure to prevent sticky fingers, inside zipper pocket and ideally a structured bottom are a must. A saggy or loose bottom can cause it to feel heavier with everything weighing it down.

  1. Hair Ties, Clips, Bobby Pins – seriously you will always want one and so will someone else. I connect the hair ties to my bag and I could cry if I don’t have a clip. My hair half up half down is my happy place.
  2. Chapstick with SPF – Keep your lips hydrated and protected from the sun too
  3. Wallet = ID, Credit Card, Insurance, Card with emergency info
  4. Phone + Phone Charger + Multi cord charger– this multi-cord will keep you and a friend charged or even your camera
  5. Tissue – True Life I have a constant runny nose. Also for the porta potties!
  6. Sunglasses – not only for the look but protect your eyes from the sun and dust. If you have room in your bag toss in a hat – or one with a drawstring to keep with you.
  7. Sunscreen – If I can a big bottle of spray sunscreen that I apply constantly. If not a stick for your face or a powder sunscreen like this keep you protected and feeling clean.
  8. Makeup – If my bag has room for makeup a little cover up and eyeliner can go a long way to make you feel fresh after 8 hours in the sun. Cream blush can do double duty as color for your lips and cheeks. Waterproof mascara that lactually last all day – this is my favorite. A little bottle of deodorant can be a life saver. Just found these Deodorant wipes, haven’t tried them yet but these are cool.
  9. Kimono or Sweater – During the day I pack a light kimono to keep the sun off my shoulders

I use a little green wallet I bought from Express in college. I have scoured the internet and have yet to find another one like it. I love it because  of the side zipper. I transfer only the essential to a little wallet like this. The side zipper holds a Tile that tracks my stuff just in case I lose it or it’s stolen.

Also in the side zipper is Pepto and Advil. If the lot food doesn’t sit right you will be happy you have Pepto on hand. Headache or achey feet – Advil. Remember that drinking and Advil do not mix. So if you’re taking the Advil stick to water. Also, if you are having an upset stomach – hydrate!
