I first heard of Airbnb about a year ago while attending a TechStars event in Boulder. I was staying in a hotel and a few of the other attendees were Airbnb’ing it. I thought it was just crashing on someones couch and paying for it… I was so wrong. Airbnb is fabulous! Airbnb gives you the chance to book a shared room, private room or entire place. For New Years my friends and I booked this condo in Keystone for the night. Communication was fast & easy and we even negotiated the price. With no minimum night stay and no ridiculous services fee’s and taxes, we got a total steal!
You might be thinking is this similar to VRBO and it is. Except VRBO is ridiculously hard to search, really their entire website needs a makeover. searching is hard, finding availability and communication is way to difficult. Postings include, photos, information, reviews on the unit and reviews on the host renting the space! One of the best features is that a room will not show up unless it is actually available and it gives you actual rates not just a range based on the season like VRBO. I also love the map, its easy to tell what part of town a unit is in just by hovering over the photo. After renting you will rate your unit and interaction with the host & they will rate you as well.
Even if you’re not planning a trip for a while you will want to check out their curated list of housing options like these tree houses or these bad ass trains. Airbnb is not limited to the US you can rent from places all over the world!
I plan on using Airbnb to score some more great ski spots this winter and maybe even book a place this summer! I hope you try it – I’d love to hear how it goes! Safe Travels!
