Telluride Bluegrass Festival
Is TOMORROW!!!!
This year will be my first year to attend the Telluride Bluegrass Festival! I was lucky enough to win the ticket lottery and score Town Park Camping Tickets. Town Park is the mecca of camping grounds. People have been camping there with their family and friends for the past 20+ years (the first festival was in 1974). These avid fans have even started a forum to answer questions for n00bs like me! They also have activities (Oyster Fest, Rum Balls, Town Park Happy Hour and late night jams) that run throughout out the festival. Most people arrive on Sunday to stake out there spot but because of our real world jobs we will be arriving Wednesday afternoon.
I am excited to see and hear a lot of new music like Greensky Bluegrass and also hear favorites like Allison Krauss, Punch Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and John Fogerty.
Besides the music there is sooo much to do. Telluride is a box town, surrounded by mountains on all sides, with a great historic downtown sprinkled with shops, bars and world-class restaurants. Telluride comes alive for Bluegrass weekend and the music doesn’t stop when the festival ends, there are “Night Grass” shows every night in historic venues like the Sheridan Opera House
If you are ever in Telluride, be sure and take the gondola up the mountain to take in the spectacular views as well. If you are feeling fancy book a spa appointment at the The Peaks spa and enjoy the pool. Yes, the indoor/outdoor pool has a 2 story slide on the inside (like the one in Blank Check) it is awesome.
But if you want to be outdoors, there is hiking and rock climbing galore. I hope to dabble in everything on our 5-day vacation.
Ill be posting photos soon!
